Failure and delays to outbound SMS messaging

Our systems encountered an issue between 16:13 and 16:23 NZST (04:13 and 04:23 UTC) where messages either Failed or stayed in a Queued status.

There was a repeat of the issue between 17:54 and 18:00 NZST (05:54 and 06:00 UTC) but in the latter case messages only Failed Temporarily and were then automatically retried 1 minute later, customers may see some messages in that time frame with a one or several full minute delay.

Messages have flowed normally since 18:00 NZST (06:00 UTC) with no repeat of the issue.

We will complete a full investigation of the cause and resolution of these incidents and complete a post-mortem to ensure we avoid any repeats of this issue in the future.

Paging was not affected by these incidents.
